Kathryn Joann Wede

        Kathryn Joann Wede, the daughter of Emert and Kathryn (Schoelerman) Schoenewe was born April 1, 1937, in Spencer, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Everly, IA area where she attended school and graduated from Everly High School in 1955.

     Joann married Orlando Wede on March 17, 1957, in Everly. They lived in Spencer, IA, where she worked at Nelson Jewelry early in their marriage. They enjoyed many years on the Wede farm near Sutherland, IA, where she worked as a homemaker, raising their family. They moved back to Spencer in 2006.

     Joann enjoyed traveling, particularly trips to Arizona and Las Vegas, spending time with neighbors and especially time with family. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.

     Joann passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, IA, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters: Joyce Pullen, Lois Selzer and Shirley Stueben; and 2 brothers, Bob and Russel Schoenewe.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Orlando of Spencer, IA; two children: Jeanine (Ron) Luttenegger of Queen Creek, AZ, and Cary (Beth) Wede of Lawton, IA; two grandchildren: Kayla Wede of Rapid City, SD and Jenna Wede of Omaha, NE; 2 sisters-in-law, Silvia Schoenewe of Broken Arrow, OK and Janice Pulmanns of Sun City, CA; other relatives; and many friends.
