Karen Kay Lynn

     Karen Kay Lynn, the daughter of Maynard and Marjorie (Thygersen) Buse, was born on June 30, 1938, in Albert City, Iowa. She attended 1st grade at a country school in Newell. She then was raised and went on to complete her education in Marathon, graduating from Marathon High School. While in high school, she was a baton major and also gave lessons to the younger students.

     She married Roger McVinua on April 8, 1956. To this union 4 children were born: Melody, Timothy, Terry and Monica. The couple later divorced.

     On  February 6, 1965, Karen married David Lynn in Sioux Falls, SD and later settled in Spencer. Karen was a homemaker and loved raising her family. She also did upholstery work for many years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter 1069 in Spencer. While in the Moose she received  Academy of Friendship Award, the College of Regents Degree and  The Green Cap Award. She was also a member of the American Legion Axillary since 2018 and was their historian for 3 years. She was also a member of the Little Sioux Breaker CB Club and was a Past President.

     Karen enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She liked going to garage sales, crafting, sewing and enjoyed being around people, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and attending their activities.

     She passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother and her son, Terry.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David of Spencer, IA; her children: Melody (Michael) Degner of Albert City, IA, Timothy (Ann) McVinua of Spencer, IA and Monica (Terry) Thomas of Waddell, AZ; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her sister, Donna Bodholdt (Dave) of Brandon, SD; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

There will be lunch served at the Moose Lodge along with a Moose Service following the graveside service.
