Julie Ann Masters Hanson

March 6, 1963 — December 1, 2023

Spencer

Julie Ann Masters Hanson, daughter of Allen and Susan (Hansen) Masters, was born on March 6, 1963, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Julie grew up in Spencer, Iowa with her parents and brother, Tim. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1981 and briefly attended UNI for drill team.

Following high school, Julie began working in Spencer as a teller at the bank and teaching valuable lessons in Sunday School at Grace United Methodist Church. It was an extra special place for her because she was baptized and confirmed there. She joined Spencer Schools in 1999 as a Teacher's Aide, where she left an unforgettable mark on those lucky students over the past 24 years.

While in high school, she caught Ronald Hanson's eye at the skating rink. After he won her heart, the two were married on July 30th, 1983. Julie's greatest blessing in life was becoming a mother to her son, Kyle, in 1987 and to her daughter, Amber, in 1993.

Julie was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and wife. She found her true passion as a stay-at-home mother after Kyle was born until Amber was in kindergarten. Julie cherished each and every single moment she spent together with her family. She was the proudest, most loving and supportive mother. She loved telling anyone she could about the accomplishments of her children, no matter how big or small. She was their biggest cheerleader and would do anything for them.

Julie loved her fur-grandchildren (Holly and Arthur) so very much. Even though she grew up terrified of dogs, she formed a special bond with Holly, acting as her #1 dog-sitter and picture taker. Julie was so excited to become a grandma to her first grandchild coming this January. Although, she won't physically be here, we know she will be here in spirit, always watching over her and future grandchildren.

Julie had a joy for capturing the moments through pictures and cherishing the photos that she took. She was especially happy during the holiday season when she could enjoy an abundance of family time. One of the things Julie loved to do the most with her family was play games, especially Mexican Train Dominoes and card games. Her radiance filled any room she was in with smiling and laughter, and she touched the heart of everyone that she met. Most will fondly remember Julie for her vibrant spirit, abundant kindness, beautiful smile and delicious scotcheroos that she shared with those around her.

Julie passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 60, with her son, Kyle, by her side. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Edgar and Iva Gertrude Jones Hansen, uncle Louis Hansen, father-in-law Clarence Hanson, and beloved family cat, Tucker.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Al and Sue Masters, her husband, Ron Hanson, her son Kyle (Jordan) Hanson, her daughter Amber (Jordan) Richardson, brother, Tim Masters, nephew, Eric Masters, and many other loving relatives and friends.
