Judd David Huffman

Judd David Huffman, son of Charles and Lucille (Ahrens) Huffman, was born May 19, 1943, in San Diego, CA, while his father was stationed in the Army. After the Service, the family moved to Sutherland, IA, and later to Gaza, IA.

Judd graduated from Sutherland High School in 1961. He attended Brown Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, MN, earning a degree in Electronic Technology. He married Connie Ewoldt on December 2, 1962, and they moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, where Judd was employed by Collins Radio to calibrate blind flying devices for aircrafts.

Judd and Connie started a family together, moved closer to family in Calumet, IA, and Judd joined the family business, Huffman Equipment. You could count on finding Judd enjoying break time and chatting with friends at ‘the shop’ each workday until his retirement in 2009.

Judd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and good friend to many. He enjoyed most spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fixing things - his home, snowmobiles, cars (many for his daughters), etc. If it was broken, he had a fix. And whether at work or home, he was usually singing or whistling a playful tune.

Judd appreciated hot-rods and was working to rebuild one of his own. He spent summers going to car shows to find just the right parts and get ideas from other classic cars. Judd enjoyed camping, golfing, and made a few winter visits to Mesa, AZ, and Gulf Shores, AL.

Judd was called home on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 78 at Aspire Sutherland Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ladd Huffman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Puhrman.

Left to cherish Judd’s memory are his wife; children, and their spouses and families: Daran (daughter Justine and sons Tobias and Raef); Regan (Jeff Knuppel) daughter Houston and son Bo; Brooke (Dain Hicks) daughter Brianne and son Dillon; Paige (Morgan Wheat) son Theo and daughter Lila; and Chad (wife Bryanna) and daughters Addison and Audrey; eight great-grandchildren (Aiden, Emma, Abel, Ryder, Reid, Beckett, Ainsley and Dunham); he also leaves his sister, Corbin Puhrmann; sister-in-law, Marcia Huffman; nephew, Jason; and three nieces: Karyn, Rhiannon, and Karma.
