Juanita "Sally" Pauline Peterson

     Sally was born on the family farm in O’Brien County, Iowa, to Floyd and Alma (Dorr) McQueen, on August 1,1929. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus. Sally was later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. She received her education at Archer Consolidated School. After graduation, in 1947, she enrolled in the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines. She then worked for Bankers Life Insurance Co in Des Moines.

     Sally married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Peterson, on December 27,1948 at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. The couple then moved to Arlington, VA., where Ron was stationed with the U.S. Army. Sally worked as a civil service employee for the U.S. Marine Corp.  Their first child was born in Arlington in 1952. The family returned to Iowa in late 1952and settled in Spencer in 1953. Sally went to work for Peoples Natural Gas in 1957 and worked there for 34 years until her retirement in December 1991. Sally enjoyed golf, reading, fishing, working in the yard, and gardening. She mostly loved to travel and visited most all of the United States with her mother, Alma McQueen. Sally also loved Alaska! Ron and Sally made three trips to Alaska.

     Sally was a long-time member at Bethany Lutheran Church, serving on the Funeral committee, and as a money counter.

     Sally was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Peterson, her parents, Floyd and Alma McQueen, two brothers, Boyd and Wayne McQueen, her father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Leta (clow) Peterson, a niece, Shannon McQueen, and a nephew, Tim McQueen, a brother-in-law and his wife. Duane and Audrey Peterson, and many special puppies, over the years.

     Sally is survived by a Daughter, Linda Manwarren (Greg) of Spencer, a son Steven Peterson (Karen) of Hudson, WI, and a daughter, Laura Newcomb of Sioux City. Eight grandchildren; Joshua Manwarren (Tia) of Clarksville, IA, Erin O’Brien (Tom) of Spencer, Jacob Manwarren (Amy) of Sergeant Bluff, Stacey Peterson (Jeff) of Roseville, MN., Kirk Peterson (Anna) of Bloomington, MN., Chelsey Schultz (Brad) of Sioux City, Emma Swanson of Sioux City, and Colton Newcomb of Sioux City; Eight great-grandchildren: Sheylyn and Emmalee Manwarren, Jaxon Schultz, Trezdyn, Talon, Marley Swanson, Ella Kuehn, and Brad O’Brien. Two dear sister-in-laws; Judy McQueen of Archer, and Deanna Maxwell of Tullahoma, TN.  Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, other relatives and Friends.

SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
