John Francis Fogarty

John Francis Fogarty, the son of Terrance and Bridget (Weir) Fogarty was born May 8, 1956, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Emmetsburg area where he attended school and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1974. He then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in the Auto Mechanics program.
John married Holly Funk on September 29, 1979, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He worked for Ken Krause Motors before moving to Spencer, Iowa, in 1985, and worked at Lee Holt Motor.  John worked for the Clay County Maintenance Dept. until his retirement in 2016. John enjoyed fishing, running, track, working on vehicles, and staying busy with his kids. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer and a past church council member.
John passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 64, due to early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Tom Fogarty.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Holly of Spencer, IA; two children: Benjamin (Valerie) Fogarty of Ankeny, IA, and Ashley Fogarty of Minneapolis, MN; four brothers: Mike (Carol) of Emmetsburg, IA, Jim of Phoenix, AZ, Bill of Wichita, KS, Joe Fogarty of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Jill (Kevin) Hanson of Graettinger, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
