Jed Thomas Cameron

March 18, 1983 — July 18, 2025

Cedar Rapids, IA

Jed Cameron never met a stranger—and if he did, they didn’t stay strangers for long. Born on March 18, 1983 to Mark and Sharon Cameron, Jed lit up every room he walked into with the most infectious smile and a heart full of kindness, mischief, and love.

A proud son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, godfather, and friend, Jed wore many hats—and somehow made each one fit just right. He had a knack for making people feel seen, heard, and welcomed. His friendships ran deep and wide, and if you were lucky enough to know him, you know it was more than friendship- it was family.

Jed had a magnetic pull toward the outdoors. Whether it was paddling downriver on a canoe trip, diving deep as a certified scuba diver or swimming like the fish he swore he was in a past life, water could’ve been his second home. Which also explained his love for fishing—a passion he passed along to his nieces and nephews. When on dry land, he loved to bicycle. He especially enjoyed when he could go on rides with his mom; no doubt where his love was instilled. He had perfected the art of grilling and many in his life enjoyed experiencing the fruits (or meats) of his labor.

His adventurous spirit carried him across the globe to places like the Philippines, Thailand, and Brazil where he soaked up the world one unforgettable experience at a time.

An animal lover through and through, Jed especially adored his cats, Zip and Zep—who, for the record, don’t like anyone else. They were fiercely loyal and deeply bonded with Jed, and they were lucky to have him as their human. No one else would have been good enough in their eyes.

He was stubborn in the best way—the kind of stubborn that meant he showed up, stayed true, and stood firm in his fierce love for his people. Jed prioritized family above all, never missing a chance to gather, laugh, and make memories. His love for life ran deep, and he surrounded himself with an extraordinary circle of friends who were as close as kin.

Jed is survived by his parents, Mark and Sharon Cameron; his brother Jake and sister-in-law Megan; his beloved nephews Kiptyn and Kayson and nieces Finley and Collynns Cameron; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and treasured friends who were his chosen family.

Jed leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and unconditional love—and enough stories to keep us all smiling for a lifetime.
