Helen Mary Geddes

     Helen Mary Geddes, the daughter of Eugene and Emma (Smith) Penning was born July 30, 1936 in Spencer, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Spencer, IA and Faribault, MN area, where she attended St. Mary’s school and graduated in 1954. She then attended Oberlin College, University of Minnesota, and graduated with a degree in accounting from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA.

     Helen Married William Geddes in 1957, to this union, 2 childeren were born. They later divorced. She worked for Getting and Potter Accounting from 1979 to 1989 and Montgomery Barry Bovee Steffen & Davis from 1989 until her retirement in 2013.

     Helen was an avid reader and workaholic, enjoyed discussing politics, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of St. Stevens Episcopal Church in Spencer.

     Helen passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy.

     Left to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Eugene (Renee) Geddes of Columbia, MD and Dorothy Geddes of Spencer, IA; 2 grandsons, John and Jordan Geddes; and many friends.
