Glenda Joan Rhodes

         Glenda Joan Rhodes, the daughter of Sam and Eva (Brouwer) Van Voorst, was born on October 8, 1953, in Sioux Center, Iowa. She lived in several communities in her younger years before moving back to Spencer in 1979. and then landing in sunny Cape Coral, Florida in 1990.

     She married James Rhodes on December 9, 1985 in Las Vegas. Glenda founded Cape Marketing, one of the first women owned business which she successfully ran for 33 years. During her time off work, she enjoyed her time doing crossword puzzles, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her DVR and watching shows with her husband.  Glenda had a huge passion for animals.  She always had multiple pets and often “adopted” pets from her children and random strays.  She took care of abandoned animals and would feed routinely.   She had a big heart.

     Glenda passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral at the age of 69 with her husband and children by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James of 37 years in Cape Coral, FL and her three siblings, Elaine, Harlan and Ron. Her oldest daughter, Kimberly Baccam and husband, Then of Marshalltown, Iowa and their children: Anthony, Zachary, and Tyler.  Glenda also had a great-granddaughter, Denver. Her only son, Kevin Yeager and wife Candice of Fort Myers Florida and their children: Alexis, Hunter and Spencer.  Glenda’s youngest daughter, Kerry Johnson and husband, Eric of Cape Coral, Florida and their children: Erika, Noah, Alissa, Aleesha, Kenzy and Jasmine. In addition to many other relatives and friends.
