Gilbert Alonzo Scribner, Jr., was born on January 4, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gilbert A. Scribner, Sr. and Mary (Adams) Scribner. He spent most of his formative years in Des Moines, but graduated from Lloyd Township Consolidated School in Terril, Iowa.
Upon graduation, he enlisted into the Army in 1951, where he served two years in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service, he met and married Edith Sorensen in 1953.
Gilbert spent most of his career primarily in the telephone industry in Minnesota. He retired in 1991 from Frontier Communication.
In 1994, he married Doreen (Luehring) Duitsman and moved to Spencer, Iowa. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing.
Gilbert is preceded in death by both parents, his first wife Edith Scribner, sister Barbara Gainey and brother Tom Scribner.
Left to cherish his memory are in his wife, Doreen Scribner, along with members of her family, brother Bill (Judi) Scribner, extended family members and friends.
