Garry Lee Hill

Garry Lee Hill, the son of Vernon J.R. Hill and Ellen Garron Hill, was born November 7, 1947 in Hastings, NE.  Garry received his early education in Superior, NE.  Garry moved to Iowa in 1969 where he worked construction.

     On February 6, 1970, Garry married Linda Diane Witter at Newell, Iowa.  The couple was blessed with three children: Michael, Cheryl and William. In 1973, they moved to Spencer where Garry owned and operated a drywall construction business for 25 years, retiring due to health issues.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs.  He also coached little league baseball for many years in Spencer.  Garry loved attending his children’s activities throughout their school years and spending time as a family.

     Garry passed away on June 19, 2021 at his home in Spencer at the age of 73.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  wife, Linda Hill in 2017; his parents, Vernon and Ellen Hill; three brothers: LaVern Dean Hill, Darrell Lee Roy Hill and Joe Raymond Hill; two sisters: Patricia Ann Barker and Carolyn Sue Schrepfer; father-in-law, Charles Witter.

     Left to cherish his memory are her children: his daughter, Cheryl Hill of Spencer, IA and son, William Hill of Spencer, IA; step-son, Michael Witter and wife, Tracy of Albert City, IA;  Six grandchildren: Jaida, Kinley and Kendal Hill and Brett, Beau and Breeana Witter; very special “adopted” family member, Liza LoVan of Fort Dodge, IA; mother-in-law, Bonnie Witter of Newell, IA; one sister, Gloria Jones of Lebanon, OR; other relatives and friends.
