Evelyn Marie Roberts was born on Nov.05, 1923, daughter of Mary Jessen and Grover Roberts, in Clay county Iowa. Evelyn was one of seven sisters, Maurine, Maxine, Belva, Betty Jean, Joyce, and Elaine (Babs) and one brother, Howard. All of her sisters and her brother have passed on. Evelyn was baptized at the Everly Methodist Church.

One of Evelyn’s wishes were that she would be able to celebrate a 100 th year birthday, she came close, ninety nine and one half!
She graduated from Everly High School. Evelyn and Carl Winterboer were childhood sweethearts and were married on Feb 10, 1944.
They started farming in 1946, a daughter, Sandra (Winterboer) Golden was born on May 30, 1946 and the family moved to the Winterboer family farm in 1948, where they resided for 67 years. Beverly (Winterboer) Sorem, daughter was born on Oct. 27, 1949 and son, Denny Winterboer on Nov.05, 1950. The Winterboer Family farm was the site of the former town of Wallace, IA., a rock monument was placed on the farm to recognize the town history.
Carl and Evelyn were members of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, IA and all their children were confirmed. She volunteered at the church for 10 years teaching Sunday School, belonged to the Guild, was choir president for 5 years, served on the Christmas committee, and sang in the choir.
Evelyn’s title was house wife/ farm wife, she was the greatest cook “homemade food”. She had her own garden, raised beef, raised her own baby chicks and sold eggs. She would not only cook a noon meal, but took homemade treats in the morning and afternoon for the farm workers.
Evelyn had a passion for history, she wrote history for the 100th Everly celebration. She also put items in the Everly “time capsule” which will be opened in 2034year.
She would have the entire family at her home on holidays, she loved her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We loved her “right back”! We have so many special moments and memories.
Carl and Evelyn semi-retired from farming and moved to Spencer, IA.
Evelyn, resided at St. Lukes Lutheran home in the later part of her life. She loved listening and singing music until her passing. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Mary Christina (Jessen) Roberts and her father Grover Roberts. Her loving husband, Carl Winterboer, her only son, Denny Winterboer, and son-in law, Thomas Golden.

Grand child: Jennifer Doobay, spouse Daven Doobay
Great-grandchildren- Katelyn Doobay and Tommy Doobay.
Grand child: William (Bill) Golden, spouse Carol Golden
Great grandchild: Danny Golden
Daughter, Beverly (Winterboer) Sorem, spouse Dale Sorem.
Grand child- Brandice (Sorem) Latterell, spouse-Todd Latterell
Great-grandchildren: Emma and Olivia Latterell
Grand child: John Sorem, spouse- Tanya Sorem
Great- grandchildren: Elsie and Evie Sorem
Daughter-In-Law ,Becky Winterboer (spouse of Denny Winterboer)
Grandchildren: Patrick Winterboer, Kyle Winterboer, Julia Winterboer, and Alex Winterboer
Niece and Nephews,- They were a special part of her life, and gave her great joy.
