Elsie Mae Jones, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Christiansen) Paulsen, was born January 29, 1919 at her parent’s home in Peterson, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent in the Peterson/Royal area, where she was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal.  She received her education in Royal, where she graduated from Royal High School.  Elsie continued her education at the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, IA, where she received her teaching certificate.  She renewed her certificate at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO. After her schooling, she taught elementary school in Gillett Grove and Sutherland.

     Elsie married Burnell Jones on June 23, 1945 in Ruthven, IA.  Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm near Ayrshire, IA and later Moneta, IA.  She always loved children and taught Bible school and Sunday school for many years.

     She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the age of 101.  Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burnell; her grandparents: Peter and Christine Christensen and Chris & Else Paulsen; 2 brothers: Art and Howard Paulsen; an infant brother, Ralph; sister-in-law's, Pearl Jones & Ilene Crew; brother-in-law: Welcome & Bernice Jones & Burnell's parents: C.B & Lizzie Jones.

     Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mary (David) Fulton of Topeka, KS, Gordon Jones of Tonka Bay, MN; Stephen (Rose) Jones of St. Paul, MN and Jean (Charles) Winterboer of Adel, IA; 6 grandchildren: Heidi, Ben & Kerry Fulton, Erin & Chris Winterboer and Jeff Jones; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends
SERVICES
Public Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Silver Lake Cemetery in rural Ayrshire, Iowa.

***THE FAMILY REQUESTS THE MASKS BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCING BE PRACTICED AT ALL TIMES AT THE GRAVESIDE SERVICES***
