Edna Shuck, age 80, passed away on December 29, 2025. Edna was born in Hartley, IA to Robert Albert and Francis Vivian (Rindle) Peters.
Edna loved God, family and her morning cup of coffee. She enjoyed refinish and redecorate rooms. Edna loved to look for and find a good bargain. You would find her at the local thrift stores and rummaging sales.
Edna enjoyed her time with friends as they would meet and spend time in the Bible along with some good food. She enjoyed playing Solitaire, Gin Rummy and many other card games with her friends from Witco. She loved to go golfing and would leave right after work to get a round or two at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course. You would also see Edna reading books and taking trips with friends to Sioux Falls for a shopping day.
Edna loved above all, her family. She would always be willing to lend a hand for her family and friends and would sacrifice anything if it would help. Edna’s word matter to her. She would be very careful in choosing the right word to express herself. She was short in stature but certainly not in her faith.
Edna’s work career ended at Eaton’s as a skilled quality control machinist. The job she enjoyed the most was when she was taking care of lunch for the employees at Group 21 in Sutherland. Edna had extraordinary talent in cooking and baking. Her scalloped potatoes and ham followed by a chocolate roll was a definite family favorite.
Edna is survived by her children; Larry, Tamara, and Dan; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bev and Shirley; and her Granddaughter, Jennifer.
God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around her and whispered “come with me”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away.
And tho’ we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to show us, He only takes the best.
