Edna Lydia Florke

     Edna Lydia Florke, daughter of Charles and Eva (Brause) Petersen was born September 29, 1920, in Barren County, Wisconsin.  She attended school in Pierson, Iowa, through the 8^th grade. 

      On September 25, 1937, Edna was united in marriage to Raymond Florke.  She was a homemaker and worked for the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa for 24 years.  She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Sutherland, Iowa.  She was also a member of many clubs and organizations:  Homemaker Club, O’Brien County of Northwest Aging, Senior Citizens Card Club and was a Hospice Volunteer.  Edna enjoyed bowling and fishing. 

      Edna passed away March 24, 2018, at the Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing in Sutherland, Iowa, at the age of 97.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1979; her three sons: Jerry, Eldon and Roger; her four sisters:  Joann (in infancy), Alice Florke, Mary Titus and Carol Abbihol and her two brothers: Fritz and John Petersen.

      Left to cherish her memory are her children:  Bonnie (Dale) Klave of Cherokee, IA, Sandra (Mel) Lundy of Des Moines, IA, James (Debra) Florke of Kearney, NE, and Betty Tunink of Peterson, IA; two sisters:  Eunice Zietler of Sioux City, IA, and Mildred Petersen of Lady Smith, WI; 27 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.
