Douglas Eugene Oldenkamp

Douglas “Doug” Eugene Oldenkamp, the son of Henry and Jennie (Van Meeteren) Oldenkamp was born February 24, 1950 in Sheldon, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Boyden, IA area, where he attended school and graduated from Boyden High School in 1968. He then attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA where he went for welding.

Doug enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1974. He married Deb De Smet in 1975, to this union they had 4 children, they later divorced. He worked for Farmers Co-op in Boyden, IA and for Johnston Auto Parts in Spencer, IA until his retirement. Doug enjoyed golfing, puzzles, and watching M.A.S.H. and western movies. He also liked putting together Christmas baskets (even though he would complain about it) and especially spending time with his family.

Doug passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026 at his home, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Glenda Olesen and Marilyn Oldenkamp.

Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children, Keith Oldenkamp of Storm Lake, IA, Heather Oldenkamp of Des Moines, IA, Jill Oldenkamp of Des Moines, IA, and Jackie Cassaro of Storm Lake, IA; 3 grandchildren, Brittany (Juan Negrete) Oldenkamp, Jacoby Cassaro, and Jax Cassaro; one great-grandson, Mateo Negrete.; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
