Doris Ann Dirksen, 93, passed away peacefully at Spencer Post Acute Rehabilitation Center in Spencer. Born on November 14, 1932, to Theodore and Johanna Anna (Ringering) Dirksen.
In Doris’s younger years, she attended country grade school up until the eighth grade. Doris continued her education at Spencer High School graduating in 1950. The family said that was a big shock for her going to a “city” school. After high school, Doris would live her entire life on the family farm. Helping family members with the daily chores. Doris was a very active member of the First Reformed Church in rural Everly. She was the secretary there for many, many years. She also would teach bible school and Sunday school for many years as well.
Doris had great skill and was a very good seamstress and would sew most of her own clothes. She would also make quilts with all of her worn out clothing. Showing that she would get the most use out of everything she could. Later in life, she worked as a dietary aid at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home and at Accura Healthcare in Milford.
Doris is proceeded in death by her parents: sisters Alice Marsh and Helen Jungers; her brother, Ray Dirksen; and many friends and family.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Raymond Marsh; nephews: Tim (Linda) Marsh, Dennis (Kathy) Marsh, Scott Jungers; a niece, Karen (Rocky) Kolar; and many friends and family.
