Donald Milan Smith

     Donald Milan Smith, 87, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away May 3, 2023. He was born on a farm north of Ruthven, Iowa, to Marion and Ruth (Thoreson) Smith. Don worked in grocery stores, mostly in the Spencer area in his early years; working 17 years at Spencer Dairy then 30 years at Pixlers in the shop until retiring.
     Don and Glanaya Zimmer were married on August 23, 1957. She passed away February 24, 1989. Don married Evelyn Fernau on March 18, 1995.
     He was a member of the Everly Methodist Church.
     Don was a volunteer fireman for 32 years. He enjoyed fishing for walleye, helping his wife Evelyn work in the garden, and joining his Coffee Club friends. Don and Evelyn headed to Arizona each October, returning in April, where they enjoyed time spent with many friends.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Glanaya Smith; and siblings, Mavis Breeze and Ralph Smith.

     Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; sons:  Tony Anthony of Goldsboro, NC, Brian (Coreen) Smith of Boise, ID, and Kelly (Tricia) Smith of Cameron, MO; 2 stepsons, Drake (Katie) Paul and Byron Paul; 9 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; brother, Marlin Smith; sister, Arlys Sierck; other relatives and friends.
