Deborah "Deb" Ann Berven

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Deborah "Deb" Ann Berven.

Deb passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 73.

Deborah was born in Estherville, Iowa on October 26, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Terrence "Terry" Hash and Nancy Jean Moyer. She was a proud graduate of Estherville Lincoln High School. Robert and Deborah got married on November 17, 1979.

Deb dedicated many years of her life to various careers serving her community. She worked as a cashier at Supervalu and later embraced her passion for cooking as the head cook at Sacred Heart Catholic School. More recently, she enjoyed her time working at the Okoboji summer camp near Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Deb was defined by her fierce loyalty, her strong will, and her endless capacity for kindness. She was deeply loving and caring, known to all as the kind of person who would truly do anything to help anyone. She was, quite simply, the best mother ever.

She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking for her family, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles and other games, and getting lost in a good book. Above all else, her greatest dedication and love were reserved for her children and her many grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Terrence "Terry" Hash and Nancy Jean Moyer, granddaughter, Neleh Jean Hash.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Berven; her devoted children: Ron Hash and his wife Jennifer Hash, Shelly (Berven) Gilmore and her husband John Gilmore, and Becky (Berven) Patrick and her husband Nick Patrick. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Hash and his wife Laurel Hash; her sister, DeEtta Myers and her husband Wayne Myers; and her many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
