Darrel Wayne Smith, the son of Tilman LeRoy and Martha Louise (Robinson) Smith was born on May 7, 1951 in Poplar Bluff MO. As a youngster, his family moved around and lived in several different places. Darrel graduated from high school in El Paso, TX. Following high school, he attended Bible School, was drafted into the military and attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo graduating with a degree in computers.
He was an ordained minister with The United Pentecostal Church and pastored for over 20 years including starting churches and helping with already established churches. He was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and was assured on his salvation and eternal life. He loved his family. He loved to sing and tell people about Jesus. He lived most of his adult life in Iowa. He loved to do carpentry and fix houses and attend his son’s sporting events. He retired from Ricoh as a service and repair technician.
Darrell Wayne Smith passed on May 17, 2025 at the age of 74 at Community Memorial Health Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Smith; son, Luke; grandson, Zander all of Spencer IA; daughter, Pamela (Paul) Rogers of Butler MO; his grandchildren: Tim (Becky), Samantha (Levi), Paul (Shawna), Tiara, Heath (Josephine), and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carol Sebastian of Independence KS; Cheri Radford of Seminole, OK and Connie (Leonard) Corbett of Lufkin TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
