Cynthia (Cindy) Annette Westfall was born in Coffeyville, KS on February 13, 1958, to her

parents Roy and Maree Westfall. Cindy, with her family, moved to Atlantic, Iowa in 1969,

attending Atlantic High School and graduating in 1976.

Following graduation, Cindy moved to Spencer and married Dwight Depew in 1980. She and

Dwight had two children, Bobbi in 1983 and Kenny in 1985. She served on the volunteer

Fostoria Fire Department from 1989 to 1999, where she discovered her true passion for caring

and helping others.

In 1999, Cindy moved to Iowa City to pursue her passion and obtain her paramedic degree from

the University of Iowa, graduating in 2001. She held various jobs that involved paramedic care

for nearly 20 years in the Des Moines/Altoona Iowa area until 2022. Her proudest moment was

delivering three babies in the back of an ambulance. In addition, she worked at Prairie

Meadows Horse Track, which was one of her favorite jobs.

Cindy enjoyed reading, especially books by her favorite author, Stephen King. Other hobbies

included fishing, cross-stitching, talking on the phone with her sisters and brother and

learning/visiting anything about old history. Cindy really enjoyed sharing all her favorite tv show

episodes (Cops, Judge Judy, Glee) with her children when they came to visit.

Cindy later moved to Spencer, Iowa to be closer to her son and his family. Shortly after moving,

Cindy was diagnosed with numerous types of cancer. She fought many battles and displayed an

enormous amount of strength. Cindy moved to the Spencer Post Acute Rehab Center on

October 14, 2025. The nurses loved how she kept them on their toes with her witty comments

and fun stories about her children and grandchildren.

After a long, hard battle, Cynthia passed peacefully at Spencer Post Acute Rehab Center on

December 31st, 2025.

Cynthia is survived by two children: Bobbi Depew of Altoona, IA and Kenny Depew (Kelly) of

Spencer, IA; three granddaughters: Harper Depew, Zoey Schulz, and Jovi Depew: her sisters,
