Curtis Lee Dodge

September 6, 1960 — June 11, 2019

Curtis Lee Dodge, the son of Arnold and Marlene (Brawner) Dodge, was born September 6, 1960 in Spencer, Iowa. He enjoyed playing baseball and did not let his small size keep him from competing with the big boys.  His childhood years were spent in Spencer, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School.  Curt continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his teaching degree.

Following his schooling, Curtis worked as a school teacher at Fabens public schools for many years.  He later changed careers and worked for the Dept. of Human Services for several years until his health forced him to retire.  He enjoyed helping others and caring for his cat. He also loved watching anything sports related, enjoyed bowling and was a Texas Longhorn fan.

Curtis passed away unexpectedly at his home in Austin, Texas on Monday, June 11, 2019 at the age of 58.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene.

He is survived by his father, Arnold and his wife, Ardyce of Spencer; two brothers: Brad Dodge and Danny (Ann) Dodge all of Spencer; step brothers and sisters: Mark (Linda) Ruehle of Jesup, Iowa, Brian (Pat) Ruehle of Hazel Green, WI, Jon (Dawn) Ruehle of Cherokee, Iowa and Elizabeth “Beth” (Eddie) Gotte of New Braunfels, TX; nieces and nephews: Josh, Jill, Luke, Tony, Ryan and Samantha; great nephews: Kale & Sanders;  and many other relatives and friends.
