Clara Feaster

     Clara Wolthuis Feaster, daughter of Claus and Dena Wolthuis was born March 10, 1922 in Everly, IA. She attended the rural grade school and graduated from Okoboji Consolidated High School in 1940. She attended Buena Vista College and taught school in Westport Township for 2 years. After that she went to California and worked in the Douglas Aircraft plant in Long Beach, CA until the war ended in 1945.

     Clara returned to Spencer, IA and married Daryl Feaster on July 16, 1947. She worked for Neisner’s in the North Shopping Center for 18 years, until the store closed. She then worked for Younker’s for 5 years, until her retirement. She walked 2 miles every morning, enjoyed fishing, camping, and having coffee with friends.

     Clara passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at her home in Spencer, at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband Daryl “Bud” Feaster, her parents, Claus and Dena Wolthuis, 4 brothers, Gerhard, Harm, Martin, and George; 3 sisters, Matilda, Alta, and Darlene.

     She is survived by her 2 children, Karen (Doug) Bonstead of Indiana and Kirby Feaster of Spencer, IA; 4 grandchildren, Lucas and Logan Feaster and Cory (Katie) Bonstead and Kelly  (Lee) Bathgate; and 3 great-grandchildren.
