On Friday, September 30, 2022, Charles ‘Chuck’ Fredrick Baker, beloved husband, father, and brother passed away at the age of 81. Born to Dorothy and Darwin Baker on March 25, 1941, he was the oldest of 20 siblings. After graduating from Whittemore High School in 1959, Chuck went on to pursue a career in the military.
Following, he worked many years at Hormel until he found his calling as a National Guard Recruiter. Charles received an award as the Top Recruiter of the State multiple times through his career. This year he was inducted into the National Guard Hall of Fame for Recruiting. Charlie retired from the military in 2001. Following his military career, he delivered Winnebago’s across the country allowing him to do his favorite things, travel and visit family.
Charles married Maureen Thilges on June 17, 1967, and to this union they had three daughters. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, Iowa. Throughout the years, Chuck enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, spending time with family and friends, and having Happy Hour with the neighbors and family. Chuck was a social butterfly who never met a stranger.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Maureen of 55 years; daughters: Kristy Fredrickson, Jessica Rydell (John) and Kelly Leonard (Gabe); seven grandchildren: Jordan Lechleitner, Maya Fredrickson, Emersyn Gilman, Kaden and Karsen Rydell, and Reegan and Reese Leonard; and left behind many brothers and sisters.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
