May 2, 1950 — April 18, 2022

Spencer

Charles “Charlie” Arnold Larsen, was born May 2, 1950, in Spencer, Iowa to Arnold and Lois (Rossiter) Larsen, the oldest of five children. He passed away Monday April 18, 2022, at the Long House Care Center in Spencer at the age of 71 following an extended illness.

Charlie’s childhood years were spent on the Larsen farm with his loving family, and he spent much of his time with his grandparents Leslie and Della Rossiter, where he learned his livelihood of farming. Charlie graduated from Spencer High School and attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in 1972. After college, he worked as an accountant at a meat packing plant in Spencer until he started taking care of the family farms. Charlie enjoyed farming and raising sheep, following in his grandfather’s footsteps.

Charlie’s hobbies included a passion for gun collecting as an excellent marksman, marathon running, weightlifting, riding his Harley, and sighting the space station overhead. Most importantly, Charlie loved spending time with his family, his children and nieces and nephews.

He loved music, especially hymns and was an active member of the Grace Methodist Church, as well as an Al-Anon member because of his compassion for helping others.

Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, Andrew Larsen and Salman DeLoughery. Charlie is survived by his children: Crissia Bullock of Concord, CA and Kelly Larsen of Enid, OK, whom he shared with a previous spouse, Starla Booth. His grandchildren: Joe, Josh, and Valor Breon of Enid, OK. Brothers: James Larsen and Robert Larsen of Spencer, IA and sisters: Janet Zephier (Izzy) and Joan Olive of Spearfish, SD. Nephew: Matt Larsen (Jill) of Norwalk, IA; Nieces: Lea Schuster (Brian) of Omaha, NE and LeAnne Praska (Nick) of Woodard, IA; other relatives and friends.
