Carolyn Rose Blaue

Carolyn Rose Blaue, the daughter of Dale and Ruth Doer Toland, was born January 31, 1933 in Ruthven, IA.  She received her education and graduated from Peterson High School in 1950.  She married Sheridan Hollman Blaue in 1951.  Carolyn attended the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City, she later worked as a fashion model and helped to organize a modeling school in Des Moines.  While in New York City, she continued her study of music with Mrs. Charles Liebling and Mr. Vernon Gould, a graduate of Julliard School of Music.

     Carolyn has been a member of the GFWC since 1958.  She has served her club, the Royal Woman’s Federated Club, in various appointed offices and as president.   She has served as county chairman, county vice-chairman, Eighth District Vice-Director, Eighth District Director, teller for the 1978 convention election, state music chairman and music chairman for the GFWC International Convention held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1982.

     Church and community activities have been a priority with her.  She joined 4-H Girls Club at age 12 and went on to be a leader for many years.  Also, she was the recipient of the Clay County Iowa Honorary member award.

     She has served with the Regent DAR chapter and active in Heart Fund Drives and she operated a private music studio, teaching piano, organ and accordion.  Her students have been the recipients of many trophies from festivals and contests.  She was a member of several music associations.

    She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, been a youth counselor, served as officers of the local and Zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and church organist.  She also served as Music Chairman for the International LWML Convention in Ames in 1985.  Also, she was a member of the Iowa Historical Society and concert series.

     Carolyn is survived by her children: Mark (Jan) Blaue of San Antonio, TX, and Susan (Richard) Brenden of Sloan, IA; five grandchildren and their families: Dr. Barrett (Heidi) Blaue of New Braunfels, TX, and sons: Max, Dean and Wyatt; Mitchell (Stephanie) Blaue  of Memphis, TN, and son, Hudson and daughter, Emily;  Luke Brenden of Sioux City, IA, and daughter, Kiandra of Sergeant Bluff, IA; Jillian Brenden of Ankeny, IA, and Cole Brenden of Johnston, IA; other relatives and friends.

     She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sheridan in 2012; brother, Dean Toland in 2008.

SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 24, 2018 at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to General Federation Of Women's Club for Scholarships
