Brian Curtis Franseen, age 66, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away on March 18, 2026, after a difficult battle with glioblastoma.
Brian was born on April 17, 1959, in Spencer, Iowa, to Dorothy Eleanor (Gustafson) Franseen and Alden Ivar Franseen. He graduated from Spencer High School, attended Iowa Lakes Community College Automotive studies, and attended the University of Minnesota for music studies. Brian served in the United States Army for 11 years, including the 101st Airborne Division. He was proud to serve his country and received many awards.
Brian loved people, cars, and music. A lot of his life revolved around the automotive industry, but his first love was sales and the relationships he built with people. Vying for this was his passion for music. Brian played in numerous bands throughout his life including the First Baptist Praise Team. He played many instruments but excelled at the drums.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea (Anji) Franseen, children Jill (Mike) Barr, Tabitha (Bob) Pelgen, Samantha Chandler, Timothy Franseen, Danielle (Joseph) Ektnitphong, Jamie (Dale) Lucht, Sean (Tina) O’Hearn, grandchildren Christian, Caitlyn, Torrin, Natalie, Alessia, Gabrielle, Roman, Willow, Juniper, Calista, Ashton and Amelia, brothers-in-law Jim Ball, and Daryl Seyffert, plus many more relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Linda Ball, Barbara Regennitter, and Joan Seyffert and brother-in-law Robert Reginitter.
Brian’s humor and laughter will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, Spencer and Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation.
