Robert “Bob” Donald Fitzloff, 83, passed away at the farm on November 16, 2025. Bob was born on December 15, 1941 to Donald and Ruby (Brinkley) Fitzloff in Spencer.
Bob has lived all of his life in and around the Spencer area. Attended country school and graduating from Spencer High School in 1960. After high school Bob met Kathy (Shields) and they married on July 19, 1966. To this marriage, they were blessed with three children: Greg, Brad, and Lisa. After a short time living off the family farm, they moved back to the Fitzloff Homestead. Farming was in his blood. He grew up and farmed side by side with his father for many years. They raised crops and livestock. He especially enjoyed his time working with the Fitzloff Shellers business shelling corn. Bob was an avid collector of anything to do with Minneapolis Moline Tractors, Lionel trains and coins. It was a lifelong passion that started at a young age.
He was very fond of his time and the memories he made with his Fitzloff and Brinkley cousins. He was always quick to share one of their wild stories.
Bob was very proud of his service. Serving six years from November of 1963 to October of 1969 in the National Guard and was honored to serve his country.
Bob loved spending time in nature. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and gardening. Bob could grow almost anything. Bob was an incredible woodworking artist. He would spend hours creating beautiful gifts for family and friends or refinishing antique wood furniture. He passed his artist talent on to all three of his children, each in their own ways.
Another one of Bob’s favorite pastimes was sports, whether he was playing the game or watching it on tv. Bob and Kathy spent many hours watching the “big game“ together. He ran track and set some high school records. Bowling was one of his favorite games to play, too. He loved his time playing bowling league with the Fitzloff Shellers. Also, he had a great time playing golf with his team for the men’s league. He looked forward to it every year. Cheering for his grandchildren, Tayler & Morgan, at their sports events brought him and Kathy many wonderful memories. One of Bob’s greatest joys was sharing his love of golf with his grandson, Tayler.
Almost every morning, you could find Bob and Kathy having coffee with their coffee friends. He had fun sharing jokes, neighborhood news and supporting their friends. He had an amazing gift for conversation. Bob and Kathy celebrated their retirement years together taking vacations. They had fun adventures like short get a-ways antiquing, longer vacations visiting friends and family or their big cruise with Sue and Steve.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years Kathy; children: Greg (Christi) Fitzloff and Sebastian of Lakefield, MN, and Lisa (John) Anderson of Madison, S.D.; daughter-in-law, Shelly Fitzloff of Arizona; grandchildren: Tayler (Mandy) Anderson, Morgan Anderson, James (Emilee) Trieckel and their son; Steven (Jenn) Trieckel and their children of Arizona; great-grandchildren: Paxton and Oaklynn Anderson; sisters: Bonnie Brown of ND and Donna (Ron) Arndt of SD; other family and many friends.
