Betty Mundus

Betty Mundus, the daughter of Frank Louis and Etta Minnie Hansen Hargens, was born December 4, 1939 in Spencer, Iowa.  She grew up in rural Spencer where she attended country school through the 7^th grade and graduated from Greenville Rossie High School in 1958.

     Following her schooling, Betty worked at Clay County Bank for 10 years and then as a bookkeeper for 35 years at Merrill Company until she retired.

     Betty married George Mundus on January 22, 1993 in Spencer.   She was a longtime member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.  In her spare time, Betty enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

     She passed away on March 11, 2024 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 84.  She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Chism; one brother, Frank Hargens, Jr and his wife, Fern.

     Betty is survived by her husband, George Mundus of Spencer, IA; her children: Jacqueline Keegan of Adel, IA, Jim (Joyce) Mundus of Clive, IA, and Lee (Christina) Mundus of Earlham, IA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
