Bert Sue Nelson

  Alberta “Bert” Sue Nelson, the daughter of Darwin and Ethel (Mohr) Anderson, was born on December 17, 1956, in Estherville, IA. She loved riding her motorcycle to Terril High School where she graduated.

  After meeting each other at the Tree House Bar, playing foosball, their courtship began. On May 29, 1976, Dale and Bert were married at the United Methodist Church in Terril. Following their marriage, they farmed and eventually settled on the Nelson Family farm. Bert enjoyed working at the Terril High School, spending time with their kids, and doing word searches.

  They also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards with friends.  Summers were spent taking their kids to Valleyfair and going to Minnesota Twins games. But most of all, they loved every moment they spent with their granddaughters, Maddie and Tessa. 

   Bert passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 in Rochester, MN at the age of 65. Bert was preceded in death by her fathers, Darwin Anderson and Gaylin Johnson .

   Left to cherish their memory are their two sons: Owen (Amy) Nelson; Travis (Meredith) Nelson and their daughters Maddie and Tessa, all of Whittemore, IA; one daughter, Bridget Nelson of Fairmont, MN; her mother, Ethel Johnson of Spirit Lake, IA; siblings: Steve Johnson (LeAnn) of Spencer, IA; Mike Johnson (Jeri) of Sheboygan, WI; Nancy Johnson (Scott) of Spirit Lake, IA; Gay Johnson of Littleton, CO; and Louise Allison (Dewey) of Ankeny, IA; other relatives and many friends.
