Bernice Back, age 91, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2022, in the loving care of Marinuka Manor, Galesville, WI. Bernice Anna (Meyer) Back, the daughter of Roy, Sr., and Meta (Massmann) Meyer, was born on August 13, 1931, on a farm near Paulina, Iowa. Her childhood and education years were spent in the Paullina and Hartley areas. She was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Lutheran Synod faith. In her early twenties, Bernice moved to Spencer to work and in time met the love of her life. On June 26, 1966, Bernice married Ernest Back at Trinity Lutheran Church on West Ninth St., Spencer, IA. Together, they then made their home and family life in the place they treasured, Spencer. She remained a long-time member, 56 years of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Bernice worked alongside her husband farming and at various professional industries, primarily secretarial and insurance early on. Then finally, in one of her most cherished and rewarding roles, she worked for Warner Monuments, approximately 25 years until 2017. Bernice was a hardworking woman of strong character who truly believed in her Faith, Family, Friends, and Work. She loved taking care of people and helping them. She was passionate about getting to know people, their history, and their story. Bernice loved to bake and cook. She loved gardening and flowers, sewing and typing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest, three sisters: Bernita, Ethel, and Edna and her brother, Homer.

Left to cherish her memory are her two loving daughters: Ann Maria Wyciskalla and her husband, John of Holmen, WI and Aletha Lenz and her husband, Chad of Urbandale, IA; one adored granddaughter, Katelyn Lenz; beloved brothers and sisters-in law: Hilmer (Denyse) Meyer, Wilmer (Terry) Meyer, Roy (DruLene) Meyer, precious sister Alana Blair, dear brother-in-law Gary Lundquist and many other relatives and friends. SERVICES

Funeral services will be 10:30A.M., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Following the service at the church, there will be a lunch served at the church before going to the cemetery.
