Barbara Jean Hanson

      Barbara Jean Gannon Hanson was born in Spencer, Iowa on October 6, 1943, to Howard and Velma Gannon. She graduated from Spencer High School. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Iowa.

     She spent many years with Northwest Bell in Spencer. Later she transferred to Minneapolis, finally taking an early retirement from Quest Phone Company.

     While working in Minneapolis, Barbara worked on restoring a carousel and working at it on weekends until it was moved to the Minnesota State Fair. She loved Valley Fair, the Renaissance Fair and as well as Lake Okoboji and was there as often as she could there.

     Barbara passed away on June 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents.

     Barbara was the oldest of 9 children. Left to cherish her memory are her 8 siblings: Nancy (Ron) Enger, Mary Kay (Bill) Johnson, Tom (Janet) Gannon, Sally (Kirk) Naber, Dick (Lynn) Gannon, Bob (Cindy) Gannon, Cheryl (Matt) Lantz and Bill (LaDonna) Gannon; she is survived by 17 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
