Barbara Rosa Brechler

Barbara Rose Heisler was born on February 11, 1946 to John and Esther (Glade) Heisler in Sibley, IA.

Barb started school in Ocheyedan, IA, but attended most of her educational years in Gillett Grove, IA, and finally graduating from South Clay of Gillett Grove. Following her graduation, Barbara joined the US Navy and was stationed in Georgia. While in the service Barb became a dental hygienist. After completing her enlistment she continued to work in Georgia as a dental hygienist both in the private sector and for the Georgia Prison system. Barb continued this line of work once she returned to Northwest Iowa where she lived in Royal, IA and then finally landing in Webb, IA, until retirement.

Barb enjoyed crafting, especially with stained glass, and spending time in her flower garden.

Throughout her life, Barb belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church of Ocheyedan, the Zion Lutheran Church of Ayrshire, and the Webb and Gillett Grove Methodist Churches.

Barbara was married to Frank Bellis, Bill McDowell and Carl Brechler.

Barbara passed away on Monday, June 1st, 2026 at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, IA, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Philip and James, a sister-in-law Rhoda, and a nephew, Brian Heisler. 

Barbara is survived by a sister-in-law Beverly, five nieces, two nephews, eight great nephews, eight great nieces, and one great-great nephew.
