Audrey Marie Van Overbeke

     Audrey Marie Van Overbeke was born in Canby, MN to William and Alma Ness on September 26, 1928. She was raised in Canby and graduated from Canby High School in 1946.

     She married Renil Van Overbeke on August 4, 1947, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Minneota, MN. The couple spent their early married years in Minnesota and the Des Moines, Iowa areas later moving to Sutherland, Iowa in 1966. Her life centered around raising her seven children. In 1970 Audrey attended Western Iowa Tech studying in the nursing program earning her LPN degree. She worked at local nursing homes until retiring in 1986.

     During retirement she enjoyed working at Templer’s Variety Store, reading, gardening, canning and pickling, fishing and playing bingo. She was an avid Vikings fan. Audrey also enjoyed many trips to Arizona with Renil.

     Audrey was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Sutherland, Iowa, St. Anne’s Guild, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sutherland Library.

      Audrey passed away on August 12, 2020 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa at the age of 91.

     Audrey is proceeded in death by her parents, Sisters Valborg Sheldahl, Doris Ahlman, Verna Wicks, one brother Clayton Ness, an infant sister, twin infant grandsons Shaun and Jesse Mueller and one granddaughter Madison Ahlman.

     She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Renil, and seven children: David (Sandy) Van Overbeke of Rochester, MN; Nancy (Doyle) Woltman of Quimby, Iowa; Janelle (Denny) Horstman of Marcus, Iowa; Mary (Rick) Giese of Sutherland, Iowa; Tom (Kim) Van Overbeke of Algona, Iowa; Chuck (Lori) Van Overbeke of Alden, Iowa and Patty (Tony) Ahlman of Tonto Basin, Arizona.

     Audrey also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Sara (Chris) Wolf, Brock and Brady; Derek (Jessica) Woltman, Jaden, Jace and Aralynn; Kristin (Wes) Behounek and Aiden; Jen (Mike) Treinen, Brooklyn, Madison and Tori; Bill (Jody) Horstman, Sydney and Mallory; Melinda (Stephen) Pallone and Giuseppe; Brenda (Dave) Hessenius; Stephanie (Dave) Cleveland, Emma and Ava; Bethany (Chris) Peck and Rilee; Tasha Wright, Malana and Jaden; Tanner Van Overbeke; Charlie (Lisa) Van Overbeke, Genevieve, Mark and Karagyn; Nick and Whitney Van Overbeke; Steven Van Overbeke; Alexis (Dan) Buckingham; David Van Overbeke; Morgan (Kenny) Gongaware, Sutteyn and Gavin; Reed Mueller; Shelby Ahlman, Dallin and Raylyn;  Chad (Jessica) Ahlman and Nicholas, Domnic and Andre.
