Ann Louise Letcher

Our mother, Ann Louise Letcher passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after a wonderful life of 85 years, filled with love for God, her family, and her friends.

Ann grew up on a farm near Zearing with her sister Myrna, brother Dave, and parents Chet and Helen. She graduated from Zearing High School in 1959 as the salutatorian of her class. She married Dennis Gaunt shortly after graduating and they had three children, Jerry, Tracey, and Shelley. They moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1969. After a divorce, Ann married Elwyn “Bud” Letcher in 1989 until Bud’s passing in 2009.

Ann enjoyed being at home, doing craft projects and flower arranging. She also spent time with her condo friends visiting and having coffee. She loved working outside with her plants and flowers and always wanted everything to look pretty.

Ann spent her time before retirement working for several years at Northwest Federal Bank, Farmer’s Bank, and finished out her working years at Spencer hospital in the occupational therapy department.

Ann loved her granddaughters and great-granddaughter dearly and although they lived far away, she spent as much time as possible and kept in touch with them regularly.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband Bud, daughter Shelley, sister Myrna, brother Dave, and her parents Chet and Helen.

Ann leaves behind a loving family that cherishes her legacy: Son Jerry (Sharon) Gaunt of Sheldon, IA; daughter Tracey Gaunt of Humble, TX; granddaughters Audrey (Nick) Shedd of Kingwood, TX & Whitney (Daniel) Johnson of Humble, TX; great-granddaughter Serenity Shedd.

We take comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with Jesus and the rest of her family who has passed before.
