Ronald Chester Wittrock, the son of Chester and Bertha (Jalas) Wittrock was born November 9, 1943 in Spencer, IA.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Sutherland Bethel Lutheran Church.  He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1962.

Ron joined the Army Reserves where he served from 1965 to 1971.  After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Sutherland to marry Carol Anne Schreiner on May 22, 1966.  They raised their family, farmed and ranched north of Sutherland until he retired in 2007 and moved to town and spent the winters in Tucson, AZ.

Ron enjoyed life; you would find him at the local coffee shop early in the morning visiting and telling stories with his friends, even though he didn’t like coffee.  He spent a lot of time outdoors, including hunting and fishing.  Ron loved spending time with his wife and children.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.  He was a member of Sutherland Ruritan, Sutherland Bethel Lutheran Church, past member of the Sutherland Elevator Board and enjoyed being a volunteer at the Tucson Rodeo Museum.

Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Streufert; father, Chester Wittrock; mother, Bertha (Jalas) Wittrock and great granddaughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Guy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol; a daughter and her husband, Deb and Jim Schueder of Fort Dodge, IA; a son, Jim Wittrock of Sutherland, IA; a daughter and her fiancé, Jean Churchill and Alan Gardner of Council Bluffs, IA; eight grandchildren: Bailey Schmidt and his fiancé, Carissa Bayne, Ben and Hope Schmidt, Josh, Luke and Katie Wittrock, Nicole and Justin Guy, Adam Owen and Haley Churchill; brother-in-law, Jim Streufert and his children, Cherie and Shane; many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 2, 2020 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.
Masks are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established.

“I've known Ronnie my whole life. It is strange to know that he is no longer on this earth, but instead, he is in heaven. I know my dad was the first one at heavenly gates to open them for Ronnie where they can talk about fishing and hunting. I will miss him. Hugs to the whole family.”
