“Zerena was a neighbor to both our daughter and her family and to our son. My daughter always kept a close eye out when Zerena was out tending her beautiful flower's. Our grandson would set out her garbage and usually came home with a nice treat. Sometimes a whole box of Little Debbie cakes. lol I know she is missed in that neighborhood. Please accept our sincere condolence's.”

“Zerena was such a lovely lady. Our daughter and son-in-law were her neighbors. They thought so much of her. She loved visiting with our small granddaughter. We always enjoyed visiting her when she was out tending to her lovely flower garden. Our daughter’s response when she saw her funeral announcement was I am so sad. She was a lovely lady! We are sorry for your loss.”

“I was so saddened to hear the news of Zerena's passing; I was planning to visit her next year. Our family is forever grateful to Zerena for taking care of our father during his illness and until his death; the years he spent with Zerena was his happiest years. I will forever cherish the pillow she made for me out of my Dad's old jeans; she was extremely talented! When we took walks together, I had difficulty keeping up with her... LOL For me, Zerena was a role model and now it feels like the end of an era... she will be greatly missed by all of us. We love you, Zerena... We miss you, Zerena... ”

“So sorry for your loss. We used to live down the block from her. Her and my mom were friends and she used to come over for coffee and a visit. Mom was somewhat homebound and it sure made her day when Zerena visited.”

“I remember playing basketball with Ron and Roger in Ruthven. Mrs. Dardis was always nice to us kids. Then in 1960 we both worked for Neisner Bros in Spencer at the Mall.
I really enjoyed her and her smiling face. At age 99, I hope she lived a wonderful life! May God bless your family. Doug”

“I am so saddened to hear of Zerena's passing. She will be greatly missed by both John & I. She was a strong willed, kind & loving person. A GREAT lady, friend & neighbor. I always enjoyed visiting with her while admiring her beautiful flower gardens that took pride in. In the fall we would exchange flower seeds when they were ready to be harvested. May God wrap his loving arms around you all at this difficult time and give you peace and comfort through friends and family. RIP... DEAR FRIEND”

“I was sorry to hear about Zerena this morning, I was just talking about her with my mother last week and had we talked about how she has had such a remarkably long life. This is a lovely tribute you have all written, it warms to heart to read that the affinity for gardening and sewing was a family trait! Thinking of her and you all. I will be sure to appreciate some beautiful flowers for her today.

“Roger, I am sorry to learn of your mother's passing. How fortunate your family has been to have her with you so many years. I wonder if she knew about all your mischief while we were in high school! Moms usually do, don't they? My sympathy to you and your family. From your old high school pal, Jeannette Hughes Meyer”
