“I worked with Dan for several years at United Health/Optum. Dan was always a great help in our IT department, sharing his infinite knowledge of MQ Series, with patience and calmness. You could count on Dan.... I know that Dan had just recently retired, and was looking forward to it. I'm very sad this morning to hear of this news. To his family and friends, I encourage you to stay close, and love each other. Dan's passing reminds us all how quickly life can change. I invite you to look and find the friend that sticks closer than a brother, the highest source of hope and peace, the Lord Jesus Christ. May He shine His light into your hearts, and give you peace Ps. 78:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever! ”

“My deepest sympathies to to all the Kinlen family. I worked with Dan for over 8 years at United Healthcare and could always count on him for assistance. We shared a similar sense of the absurd regarding workplace issues and often shared a laugh after a conference call. Honored to have considered him a friend.”

“My sincere condolences and sympathy to Dan's family at this time of loss. I first met Dan in 2005 when I hired on to United Health Group. Dan was one of the employees down in the "bull pen", a temporary office area set up for new employees. Dan had a great sense of humor, was extremely knowledgeable regarding his technical field, but most of all, Dan was a great guy to be around to talk to, to joke with. Even after Dan became a remote worker in Iowa, if he called about a work subject, we would always talk at length about fishing, motorcycling, and life in general. He will be missed.”

“I never met Dan in person but I worked with him over many years remotely. He was always willing to go the extra mile to help me. He was an expert in his field and was always willing to share his knowledge as well as being a consistent source of humor. I wish I had the chance to meet him as I considered him a go to guy and I think in person he would have been a delight to have a chat with over dinner. I just felt the need to share some of my thoughts with you to let you know he touched many people in a positive way and he will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss. ”
