Dale Marvin Brower, WWII Navy flight instructor officially went “off duty” at 2:10 P.M., Saturday, November 25, 2017.  Dale was born to Marie and Gerritt Brower on March 16, 1922 in Plessis, Iowa. He was 95 ½ y/o soul.  Dale’s heart simply “wore out”.

Simply put it would be hard to find a more productive human being than Dale Brower.  He was a master in the realms of aviation, automotive, agriculture, and had a PhD in “life”.  He rebuilt numerous airplanes, cars, and machinery.  He taught the Navy Fly Boys how to fly.  He had a private and commercial pilots rating as well as an “A & P” license.  Dale built a hanger and private airstrip on the 400 acre farm west of Royal.  One of his major accomplishments was rebuilding a 1946 Fairchild 24 which won numerous awards at EAA aircraft shows in Ottumwa, IA and Oshkosh, WI.

Dale married Maxine Lynn in Sutherland on June 12, 1946 and they became quite successful grain farm operators from 1946 to 1985 when he and his wife, Maxine, retired and became Arizona “snowbirds” during the winters.  It was during those retirement years he became quite the “pool shark” and served as the “pool coordinator” at Towerpoint Resort in Mesa, AZ.

Dale passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Lynn who passed away in 2003.

Dale had three offspring to carry on his legacy:  Steven Dale Brower (Mary Buchanan) of CA, Michael Lynn Brower of CO, Cheryl Brower Berkel (Gerald Berkel) of AZ. His grandchildren: Michelle Brower Mitchell (Doug Mitchell) of IA, Greg Berkel (Nikki Berkel) of AZ. His great grandchildren: Casey Brower (Ana Brower) of IA, Haylie Gillis of IA, and Ayden Berkel of AZ.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

“Condolences to Dale's family. I always thought he and Maxine were the nicest people. Lambert Fechter was also my uncle, so we knew the Brower's through the years. It was nice reconnecting with Dale the last few years.”

“Our sincerest sympathies to Dale's family. Dale was a very good friend of my Uncle Lambert from Hartley, Iowa. Lambert passed away in a plane crash many years ago. Dale was also a friend to my parents, Russel and Gladys Sauer. Gladys was Lambert's sister. Over the last few years, Mom and Dale kept in contact and enjoyed each other's company for occasional suppers and such. She was very saddened to hear of his passing. Dale also was able to join me and my family in Spencer for the last few years for a few holidays and special occasions. We all enjoyed his stories of yesteryear and were always amazed how much he could remember from so many years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed his tales. I'm happy that we had the opportunity to get to know him better. God bless.”

“Our hearts go out to you at this time. May you find comfort in the memories of your times shared as a family over the years. I remember Dale and Maxine very well as I was growing up south of Royal.
