Helen Mary Glaser, the daughter of William and Margaret Springman Slinger, was born February 13, 1914 in Archer, Iowa and was the 5th of ten children. Her childhood years were spent in the rural Primghar, Iowa area, where she received her education in rural O’Brien County Schools and later graduated from Primghar High School in 1931.
Helen married Fred Glaser on February 5, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. They lived on several farms in the county and then bought a farm south of Hartley in 1946, where they raised their two sons, Gene and Arvon. In 1965, they sold the farm and moved into Hartley, where Helen worked as a nurse’s aid for several years before retiring.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Helen also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the KLIO Club.
