Helen Mary Glaser
February 13, 1914 - June 24, 2007
Helen Mary Glaser, the daughter of William and Margaret Springman Slinger, was born February 13, 1914 in Archer, Iowa and was the 5th of ten children. Her childhood years were spent in the rural Primghar, Iowa area, where she received her education in rural O’Brien County Schools and later graduated from Primghar High School in 1931.

Helen married Fred Glaser on February 5, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. They lived on several farms in the county and then bought a farm south of Hartley in 1946, where they raised their two sons, Gene and Arvon. In 1965, they sold the farm and moved into Hartley, where Helen worked as a nurse’s aid for several years before retiring.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Helen also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the KLIO Club.

Helen passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa after a short illness at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred on February 5, 2004; five brothers: William, Herman, Edward, Jake and Henry Slinger and three sisters: Martha Jipp, Marcella Jacobs and Margaret Krumm.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Gene and his wife, Patricia Glaser of Richardson, Texas and Arvon Glaser of Overland Park, KS; five grandsons; four great granddaughters; other relatives and friends.
